Sara Boyd
Sara is the Owner and Cider Maker at Loch Cider Co located in beautiful Prince Edward County. Loch Mor uses traditional varities of local apples to create award winning full juice ciders. In 2022, Loch Mor Cider won 2 Best in Class awards at the North American Cider Competition GLINTCAP. Sara is a certified Pommelier who is passionate about cider consumer education in Ontario and Canada plus opening up new horizons with local craft cider with food pairings. Sara is also a Certified Cider Judge with the BJCP. Prior to becoming involved in Ontario Craft Cider, Sara was the Market Strategy and Planning Manager for Proctor and Gamble in the highly competitive UK grocery market.
Jenifer Dean
After 20 years in the restaurant business, Jenifer returned to school in 2000 to complete three years in the Wine Technology program at Loyalist College. At the same time, she began working with Grant Howes at County Cider as both a winemaker and cidermaker. Within a year she added the roles of retail store manager and restaurant manager to her job description. Working alongside Grant she helped grow the company from 20,000 litres to over 300,000 litres in 10 years. By 2010 Jenifer had also taken on the responsibility for all cider operations, human resources, and health & safety in the company. Jenifer has taken several cider courses including Cider Sensory Evaluation and a Downstream Packaging and Processing of Perry course with Peter Mitchell in the UK. She has been a Cider Judge at GLINTCAP and previously at the OFVC.
Janet Dorozynski
After completing a PhD in demography and women’s studies, Janet Dorozynski left academic life to work for Wines of South Africa in Stellenbosch. Upon returning to Canada, she has worked in and with the Canadian and international wine industry and been writing, judging, and teaching about wine since late in the last century. Janet currently divides her time between her day job as a trade commissioner for Global Affairs Canada where she is the specialist on wine, beer, and spirits from across Canada and responsible for international business development and export promotion. Outside of her day job, she tastes and travels to wine regions throughout the world and has organized and judged at competitions in North and South America, Europe and Asia for two decades. Janet holds the WSET Diploma, is a WSET certified educator and a Professional Affiliate of Brock University's Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI). She is a principal critic at Wine Align, Canada’s largest drinks website, the drinks columnist for Luxe Magazine Ottawa and the Canada contributor to the upcoming 5th edition of the Oxford Companion to Wine. Janet has also contributed to the Canada sections of the World Atlas of Wine and Jancis Robinson et.al. Wine Grapes and written wine and spirits content for WSET Global wine certification courses. A long-time writer for Vines Magazine, Janet’s writing has also appeared in Quench, Gismondi on Wine, Jamie Goode’s WineAnorak.com and WineTelevision.com, Canada’s earliest online wine publication and TV series.
